Here's What You Need To Know!

Some kids have no interest in cooking while others absolutely love to cook and spend time in the kitchen. Either way, your child needs to spend at least one week at The Real Food Academy's culinary camp this summer and here's why.

Let's start by stating a few things we know for sure.

Your Child's Health

First and foremost, we can all agree that there is nothing more important to a parent than the health of their child. This is a fact. It's also a fact that nothing has a greater impact on your child's health than the food they eat. When they eat the right kind of food (known as "real food" at The Real Food Academy) they will feel better, sleep better, think better, look better and ultimately reduce the chances of facing serious diseases later in life. There is no better time for your child to establish good eating habits than when they are young.

Children who develop an appetite for highly processed foods when they are young, have much greater chances of developing food addictions to those foods and will pay the price with their health later in life.

Eating Habits

The Real Food Academy summer camp will influence your child’s eating habits in a very positive way. This can be very difficult if not impossible for parents when it comes to your child's eating habits. We know from experience that many (if not most) parents have difficulty influencing the eating habits of their child. Here's why we have succeeded where many parents have failed in the very important task.

At The Real Food Academy’s culinary camp, your child will be surrounded by other children his or her own age. When the time comes to eat, more often than not most kids will proudly proclaim "yummy, this tastes great"! Even the most picky eaters will at this point open their mind, challenge their palette and come out with a "yeah this is yummy" of their own. We have seen this phenomenon over the years and consider it to be a very powerful, yet gentle positive peer pressure. This is something that's nearly impossible to achieve it at home.

Self Esteem

Assisted by a trained chef, your child will assemble dozens of recipes over the course of the week.  They will bring  their own creativity to each task,  work as a team,  and time after time create dishes that looks great…tastes great…and most importantly will consist of healthy nutrient dense ingredients.  Of course eating their creation is the best part.  The immediate gratification they experience will boost their self-esteem is why our campers say that the Real Food Academy’s camp is their favorite!  When you pick you child up at camp, you can expect your child to run toward you, food in hand, beaming with pride and excited to share with you their creation.

Boost Self-esteem

Note:  When you register for camp you will receive an email from the Real Food Academy requesting some information about your child. We have found that knowing a little bit about you child ahead of time will help us give your child the very best experience possible.  For example, How old are they? Are they a picky eater?  Are they painfully shy, etc.?

BTW, you can assure your child that they will be seated with other kids their own age!

Multiple Weeks

What if my child comes to camp for multiple weeks?  Will they be repeating the same information?  Absolutely not. Here's the way we do things at The Real Food Academy.  Each week we change the recipes so those returning for multiple weeks will be challenged with something new.  We also extend certain privileges to those coming back for a second and subsequent weeks.  When your child returns for a second week they will feel special and important when they have access to the kitchen, added responsibilities etc.

What your child learns at The Real Food Academy camp can influence their eating habits every single day for the rest of their life. That’s what makes this camp unique! Your child eats every single day, right?   The question is; what are they eating?  Our primary goal at The Real Food Academy summer camp is to teach your child about Processed vs Real Food.  This is our #1 priority because processed food is everywhere and most kids are consuming far more of it than they should.

We Think The Kids Explain It Best Though..

If you like avocado, you will be amazed how easy and delicious this version of Avocado baked fries are. You can have it as an appetizer with a spicy mayo-sriracha dipping sauce or simply added it to a salad as a topping. This easy and delicious egg and vegetables frittata recipe is a perfect dish to serve for brunch in addition to the rest of goodies, like waffles or pancakes. If you have kids, you can involve them into the making as we know how much they love to crack eggs!

Not only these macaroons are addictive but they are GOOD for you. Adding quinoa will add lots of nutrients, that normally you wont find in the traditional recipe. You will be amazed how delicious these are. This is a great way to swap the butter on your toast for avocado, which is a healthy fat and take will take your toast to another level. This mouthwatering recipe can be eaten for breakfast, lunch of afternoon snack. Adding kale will make it even more nutritious and will add texture to the spread. Using the Greek cream cheese and yogurt in this recipe will create a much silkier, soft and healthier result. Add this delicious frosting to any cupcakes and you'll have some happy friends and family. If you enjoy the traditional Hummus, adding peanut butter instead of the traditional Tahini paste, gives it a Southern twist. You can substitute de from sunflower seeds if you are allergic to nuts. If you don't have time to cook your own garbanzo beans from scratch just choose only the best quality boxed product. Choose organic and low sodium. Make sure you rinse and drain the beans as much possible before using. Give yourself a meatless day. If you are in the mood to prepare a very tasty but hearty dish this can be it! A vegetarian Meatloaf. This recipe is packed with healthy fillers, like Quinoa, zucchini, carrots and flax meal. This meatloaf can be made using a cupcake pan or a regular baking pan. If using a cupcake pan, you can add mashed potato topping and make it look like frosting. Your kids will be more incline to eat them then. This recipe is the healthy version of the traditional deep-fried egg roll that you get at a Chinese buffet or Chinese take-out. In this recipe, we added sweet potatoes instead of pork and we bake it instead of deep-frying it. Therefore, it is not only super tasty but packed with nutrients. These cooking are loaded with super foods like; Matcha Green Tea that is packed with antioxidants which boosts metabolism and burns calories and is also rich in fiber and vitamin C. It prevents disease, lowers cholesterol and blood sugar.  It has Coconut Oil that can help you burn more fat, kills harmful microorganisms and improves blood cholesterol levels. You'll also notice that there's very little sugar used in this recipe and we use oat and garbanzo flour.  Therefore, they're gluten free! Perfect to accompany them with a nice glass of Almond milk! Chinese Cauliflower fried no-rice must be one of my favorite dishes ever! Not only you are not eating empty calories with too much carbs with a traditional white rice but the cauliflower rice has a much better flavor. Ratatouille has been always a favorite dish of mine. Not only can be served with pasta, French fries or rice but serve over toasted flat bread and now you have a healthy Pizza. Make this fun and super delicious and super nutritious snacks for school or perfect during the holidays! Good for ALL AGES! We all love a good breakfast casserole but feel too guilty afterwards! Here's a recipe that you may want to consider preparing on a Sunday or a rainy day. Using sprouted Ezekiel (Flax or Sprouted 7 Grain) spinach and avocado would add nutrients into this delicious dish and you'll be a bit less guilty. Living in South Florida we have a great influence of Latin flavors. So if you like Hummus, you have to try this variation of it. You can have this as an appetizer or add it as a topping to your veggie or turkey burger and now you have healthy and a gourmet dish! This is one of my favorite soups to eat all year round. You would never know that this soup contains NO heavy cream or any kind of dairy.

The red and green garnishes (Goji berries, chopped tomatoes and basil) makes it perfect for this holidays. Enjoy! These delicious and easy to bake cookies are some of our favorite! Using dry cranberries can give this recipe special touch especially during the holidays. These cookies are low in sugar and gluten free so they are easy to digest. .

  • More Great Things Coming
  • Stay Tuned
He's sure to melt when you serve him some of these yummy holiday treats. Use your imagination for the decorating, or involve the kids! A fresh take on the standard "Pigs in a blanket" snack, bring a little spooky cheer to your Halloween! This simple soup is easy to prepare and can be done with the help of your little ones. Kids will actually be more inclined in eating it if it's served on bread bowl. Broccoli is an excellent source of vitamin K, vitamin C, chromium and folate. It is a very good source of dietary fiber, vitamin B6, vitamin E, manganese, phosphorus, vitamin B1, vitamin A, potassium and copper. This has to be the ultimate kids favorite dish from The Real Food Academy. We have probably made thousands of them in our kids classes. Pizza on a Stick its not only fun to make but can promote team work among kids, use of the motor skills, creativity and a way to try a new vegetable as a topping since its not visible as the traditional pizza. By adding Butternut squash to this waffle recipe you will create a much healthier version of it and your kitchen will be filled with the delicious aroma of the autumn and winter time time.
Finish it up by adding pure maple syrup o fresh whipped cream! It will be a hit! I really like potatoes but I have learned that there's little nutrient content in them. However, I discovered that purple potato is loaded with antioxidants and high in potassium. In this recipe the purple potato stands out giving a pop of color to a typically bland-looking dish, making this a healthy side or a simple snack!
