If you like avocado, you will be amazed how easy and delicious this version of Avocado baked fries are. You can have it as an appetizer with a spicy mayo-sriracha dipping sauce or simply added it to a salad as a topping. Not only these macaroons are addictive but they are GOOD for you. Adding quinoa will add lots of nutrients, that normally you wont find in the traditional recipe. You will be amazed how delicious these are. This is a great way to swap the butter on your toast for avocado, which is a healthy fat and take will take your toast to another level. This mouthwatering recipe can be eaten for breakfast, lunch of afternoon snack. Adding kale will make it even more nutritious and will add texture to the spread. If you enjoy the traditional Hummus, adding peanut butter instead of the traditional Tahini paste, gives it a Southern twist. You can substitute de from sunflower seeds if you are allergic to nuts. If you don't have time to cook your own garbanzo beans from scratch just choose only the best quality boxed product. Choose organic and low sodium. Make sure you rinse and drain the beans as much possible before using. This recipe is the healthy version of the traditional deep-fried egg roll that you get at a Chinese buffet or Chinese take-out. In this recipe, we added sweet potatoes instead of pork and we bake it instead of deep-frying it. Therefore, it is not only super tasty but packed with nutrients. Make this fun and super delicious and super nutritious snacks for school or perfect during the holidays! Good for ALL AGES! Living in South Florida we have a great influence of Latin flavors. So if you like Hummus, you have to try this variation of it. You can have this as an appetizer or add it as a topping to your veggie or turkey burger and now you have healthy and a gourmet dish! These delicious and easy to bake cookies are some of our favorite! Using dry cranberries can give this recipe special touch especially during the holidays. These cookies are low in sugar and gluten free so they are easy to digest. . This is a great way to have your kids eat their veggies, building a salad skewer pattern can be a lot of fun, not to mention it makes a great presentation for your guests. Other ingredients can be added like, cucumbers, red onions, bell peppers, etc. This recipe is always a hit in our kids cooking classes. Our students not only learn the importance of sanitation when working whit raw meats but they have a blast threading them into the skewers. They're packed with flavor and satisfies even the pickiest eaters. We have served them with our homemade Naan Bread and Israeli Salad or by themselves as an appetizer. I can say that this recipe is definitely a keeper! As the summer approaches, we are coming up with refreshing smoothie style beverages for our fans. This version of the classic Puerto Rican recipe is packed with vitamins A, B12, D, and Calcium. All of the ingredients are available year-round in SoFlo and have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and beneficial properties. As a plus for parents, kids love this recipe, it is great for get-together's, playtime by the pool and bbq's! This variation of the classic PB&J sandwich is going out for those gourmands with severe Peanut allergy and for the parents that want to pack the classic sandwich in their kids school lunch boxes but are advised against it by their Peanut Free School(we serve a couple of them.) Peanut allergy is life threatening, I know because my son was born with this allergy and had never tried PB&J for the obvious reasons. The day that I made him his first SB&J sandwich his first reaction was- "where has this Sunbutter been all my life?(LOL). Now we keep a jar in the cupboard and serves as a good replacement for Peanut butter in most of my family recipes. BTW- this is such an easy recipe that even a four years old can make it! What the heck are Shishito Peppers? These small, mild Japanese peppers are great for roasting, pan-frying and grilling. Their thin walls blister and char easily when roasted or grilled, taking on rich flavor that is delicious with coarse salt and lemon juice (my mouth is already watering). At The Real Food Academy, we love this simple way of broiling Shishito Peppers and usually plate them with a mild Tahini Sauce. Don't forget to serve them right out of the oven, and offer your friends a cold one to sip while munching on them! Matzo is unleavened bread made from one of five species of grain – wheat, barley, spelt, rye, and oats – mentioned in the Torah. Our snack version of it is fun for kids to make and adults with a sweet tooth to snack on. Follow our recipe or add your favorite seeds and nuts. Israeli Salad aka/ Arab Salad is light, healthy and refreshing. Full of antioxidants, enzymes, vitamins, and minerals, this salad is sure to become one of your Spring and Summer favorite recipe. Chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, and parsley combined with a drizzle dressing of lemon juice, olive oil, garlic, and mint leaves. Goes great in a pita with falafel, hummus, and tahini, but also works as a side dish with any middle eastern, Greek, or even American Food. We are getting ready for our warm South Florida Spring and Summer with this cool snack (it can very well be a breakfast or dessert). Chia seeds, cocoa, fresh berries and coconut come together for a naturally sweetened gluten free delight!

This salad was offered in one of our recent cooking classes.  It was a hit to say the least!  The recipe was inspired from one of my favorite chefs Caroline Randall, she wrote Soul Food with Love.

The simplicity and combination of flavors are a perfect match.  This is a great salad to make during a hot summer day.  My husband and I had a similar salad in Santorini Greece last summer after a hot day at the beach.  This recipe is very versatile, it can be served with any kind of food, as it will clean your palate for the next dish!

Spring break has arrived to South Florida and with it visiting friends and family. Having a full house involves large breakfasts menus and we have decided to share this one with all of you since is one of our favorites.  It takes about an hour to make and it can be refrigerated for a few days and reheated at service time.

You can make individual servings on a muffin tray (just make sure you are using a good quality mold) or a springform pan.

Tip: don't just serve this baby for breakfast, it can also be served for brunch, lunch or dinner! Use it as a side and serve it with salad, ratatouille or baked sweet potatoes! The following is a quick snack that even the little ones can make on their own! Whole wheat tortilla, rich sunflower butter, bananas and cocoa powder come together for a snack, breakfast or dessert. There are so many variations to this recipe, we will let you decide and share which is your favorite. Some suggestions include; almond butter, Kosher chocolate spread, crushed nuts for topping or even small pieces of fruit as part of the filling. Enjoy! Enough with feeding your kids or yourself with store-bought cookies! If you look at the label,  you can find many ingredients that are not necessarily what you want them to have(or that you might not even recognize!) Here is the solution:  Dates, sun butter, oats and fruit preserves come together to form a most delish raw cookie with REAL ingredients. Kids and adults will absolutely come for seconds on this one. If you are a chocolate lover, you can add about 2 teaspoons of cocoa to the mix. Don't forget to top them with fresh berries such as raspberries. What's best is that you are skipping on the enriched processed flour, the added sugar, preservatives, artificial coloring and other fake ingredients that have little or no nutrition and that you want to avoid at all cost!

Berry sorbet

Jícama, aka the Mexican Turnip, is  very low in saturated fat, cholesterol and sodium and also  a good source of potassium and Vitamin C. This recipe for Jicama chips is easy to make and will surprise your guests with its refreshing flavor. You can always shred Jicama and add it to salads, wraps and stews. When you eat Cauliflower  you are adding  an array of nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other phytochemicals to your body that you don't get from chicken. Traditional chicken wings are a "favorite" in the US but  if you are really looking for flavor, crispiness and a vegan option you need to be looking into this Cauliflower "Wings" Recipe. It is easy to make and probably costs less than a bag of wings from the supermarket.  Mix  in some Broccoli florets and surprise your guests with this cool, not traditional recipe! Our Mushroom Pate is such a versatile recipe! You can snack on it, spread it on toast or a veggie burger, fill mushroom caps and top them with Parmesan(broil them until the cheese is golden and crispy) or mix it with 1/2 cup of Goat Cheese for a richer spread. This Holiday Cookies made with very little sugar are a great snack and even a super healthy gift for this Season! I saw this recipe on TipHero.com and I was blown away!  I'm sure that this one will become a very popular dish here at the academy for kids and adults.  This is fun to make and super delicious.  This recipe calls for puff pastry but stayed tuned for a re-made healthier version of it.  Enjoy it for now!! Apple empanadasA perfect dessert for the fall. Making this Apple Empanadas can be a perfect activity to do with your kids.  Make sure you cool down the filling before assembling your delicious sweet turnovers.  You can use store bought dough rounds or make your the one included in this recipe. Picadillo Empanadas Empanadas are the Latin version of a turnover.  They cab be filled with just about anything you like.  The traditional Picadillo Empanada is made with beef, but here the Real Food Academy "We Don't Change The Dish We Change The Ingredients" therefor we use lean turkey meat.
