As the summer approaches, we are coming up with refreshing smoothie style beverages for our fans. This version of the classic Puerto Rican recipe is packed with vitamins A, B12, D, and Calcium. All of the ingredients are available year-round in SoFlo and have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and beneficial properties. As a plus for parents, kids love this recipe, it is great for get-together's, playtime by the pool and bbq's!
This mix of greens and superfoods can become part of a wrap a side or a meal on its own. You can top it with baked pieces of tofu, fish or chicken breast. Make it for dinner, take it to the office or a picnic and you will be replenishing your body with REAL foods that will give you nutrients and energy. Note: We like to keep the tomatoes, cucumber and feta on the side until the time of service so our greens stay crunchy.
There are over 400 varieties of Mangoes, most of them are available in the summer time. Rich in vitamin C, A and B6, these sweet fruits are delicious on desserts, sauces and even mixed into cooked rice(Thailand makes an awesome Rice and Mango dish!) The following Sorbet recipe is easy, just make sure that your Mango is ripe enough to be sweet and cut it in small pieces before you freeze it. Serve with shaved Coconut meat, fresh berries or even an Almond Biscotti.
